Situated in Toronto, Ontario in east-central Canada, McKinsey International College offers a TESL International course which provides students with the training, skills, and practice to confidently teach in a variety of settings in the ESL field. Students will study in historical perspectives and models of second language acquisition, pedagogy, linguistics, as well as relevant methodological and professional issues. Practicum and observations are conducted on site; no off-site training required.
We also offer a MIC-TESL program, available to international students as a pre-requisite course to the TESL International course. In addition to this, we provide a Coventry TESL (TESOL) program. Hess Education Canada offers a 60 hour intensive Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) course in Vancouver, BC. This 60 hour intensive course is designed to teach you how to teach English as a foreign language. Using the communicative approach, you will learn classroom management strategies, the differences between the adult and child learner, multiple intelligence theory and how to create lesson plans that take into account different learning styles.
Most importantly, you will get hands on practice with lesson planning. From the second class on, you will not only learn the components of lesson planning and the kinds of lesson plans but you will also begin making lesson plans. You will also be prepared for culture shock and learn how to write a resume and cover letter for jobs overseas and what to look for in a contract.
